About Kiyo

Kiyo is the artist name of Kimberly Jolanda, born in 1986, who was raised and still lives in Leiden, a university city in The Netherlands.
Nicknamed the Dreaming Lady by fellow poets for her delicate, imaginative poetry, Kim has been writing and sharing her work online for several years. Starting on a community site and with a personal blog, she made the move to a website under her artist name, Kiyo, early 2017.
Influenced by her love for Japanese style poetry, Kim updates two visual poetry series online weekly; the Haiku, and the Micro Poetry Series. Mostly written in free-form, they are short pieces inspired by nature, philosophy and day-to-day thoughts and emotions. They often aim to inspire, encourage, or show you the beauty in small things and moments.
Visit the Haiku and Micro Poetry Series to see more of her writing, subscribe to her blog to receive Kiyo's latest poetry uploads directly into your inbox, or follow her on social media.

Dreamscape - Out Now!

Kiyo's new book, Dreamscape; an illustrative journey in art and poetry, is available for purchase now!

Published in hardback with full-colour spreads, Dreamscape is filled with a rich variety of poetry, ranging from haiku to free-form pieces; inspired by days of chasing goals, wishes and daydreams, late nighttime ponderings, and staying strong in those moments of falling down and getting up again, holding on to the valid courage to keep believing in yourself.

The poetry is accompanied by 26 pieces of original art, by Kiyo, that blend the thin line between fiction and reality, opening a door into another world where, even just for a moment, the impossible seems possible.
